Top 4 Steps to Choosing a Swim School for Your Child
Swimming offers many benefits, including water safety, physical exercise, improved cardiovascular health. These are just a few of the many reasons a parent should encourage their kids to learn to swim. While it is exciting to engage and start discovering the nuances of a new sport or recreational activity, some times that first step is the most difficult. How does one ensure that they are making the right choice for their family with the right swim program to enrol in?
Naturally, you want the best swim school for your children. So, what makes one swim company better than another? This article covers the important factors to consider, and the steps in choosing the best swim school for your swimming goals, and will highlight what The Aqua Life Swim Academy offers apart from the norm of your regularly available local swim spot.
Do Your Research and Find your Fit
The first step when looking for a swim school is to do your research and figure out your best options. Here at The Aqua Life, we understand we are not the only place to register for swim classes. While we’re offering a wide range of aquatic instruction, and approaches, we might not be the right fit for you. We will be as flexible as we can to go accommodate the needs of your schedule and your family. We will also be upfront with whether or not we have the resources to make your experience with us worth the commitment. As there are different swim schools out there, you should do your research online, and ask friends, family, and colleagues about their experience and success in various programs and schools. The groundwork is aimed at finding out the possible options available to you, so that you can compare and be most effective with your time.
We recommend comparing things like swim programs prices, student instructor ratios, payment options, swim schedules, pool locations, swim environment, and most importantly, the goals set by you and those participating in the swimming lessons.
Ask about Instructor’s Training and Certification
Not all swim program deliveries are going to be suited for the kind of characteristics that children are displaying in their growth and behavioral observations. Some kids thrive in smaller groups, more intimate spaces, and that may be the kind of school for your children needs. Maybe you are looking for more specialization with adolescents and adults. Perhaps an environment better
suited for your golden years with adapted aquatic proficiency for joints and bones. Consider the needs of a person with cognitive or physical exceptionalities. Or you’re trying to prepare for the next open water season.
Well, not every swim academy gives you the opportunity to glimpse at the profiles of their instructors on their websites. At The Aqua Life Swim Academy we follow a diligent hiring process to ascertain that we are able to deliver quality instruction consistently to all our clients.
You will also notice that we have a talent pool for every kind of goal that you may be setting for your swimming future! Whether you are aiming to compete at the highest level, or if you are just trying to keep up with your kids on those hot cottage days! The Aqua Life Swim Academy offers experience in the world of athletic competition; provides experience working with swimmers and
their specific requirements; have their staff trained to work with kids with special needs and with people with a need for adjusted learning environments; and are versed with dealing with families that have children in varying swim levels in the household.
How Many Children Should Be In A Swim Class?
The number of students per class is also an important part of your kids’ swimming lessons and its success. The more kids in a class the more it dilutes the effectiveness of the lessons, and progress is slower; there is also less one on one time to correct skills, and offer personalized feedback.
At The Aqua Life Swim Academy our focus is to make sure your children have the most successful and safe lessons possible, and we achieve this through a more customized approach to learning and advancing through skills, via small ratio classes.
Ask What Age Groups and Level the Swim School Offers
For those starting their swimming journey a beginner swimmer needs to learn all of the basics of swimming. This means your child is better off working with a school that teaches the basic safety procedures, including how to tread water, roll over from front to back, and how to protect themselves while swimming. Truthfully, you will get that at every swim school.
What we do differently is we set an environment for learning and development at the pace of each individual learner. Since we keep our capacity limited, we can maintain attention directly at where your needs are for your further progression. There is no concern for whether or not you have met the requirements for the “next swim level”. You don’t have to see your classmates be
left behind because of stark improvement. We tailor the direction to each swimmer without worrying too much about what spot to look for and with the new schedule change for the next session. Once you’ve reserved your time and space, you make the commitment you choose what is best for you!
This is not to mention that our locations, while they are shared with other public guests at each location, the sites tend to be very opportune for people looking for low sensory stimulation locations. Most of our pools are heated to a temperature higher than the average public swim area. They also offer an intimate setting where our instructors deliver low ratio guidance so that the focus is on you, the client. You can have a look at where we might host our next lesson, here.
Find Out About the School’s Philosophy to Teaching
When it comes to the instruction, our first focus is safety. The introduction to the water is done so that the pool and Aquatics can be seen as an enjoyable experience, while at the same time maintaining the respect it warrants for the dangers it offers. The first steps are for getting comfortable, and how to prepare for a sudden fall into water.
From there, we highlight enjoying water immersion, and being able to reach a point of safety as early as possible. Once that is accomplished, we move into the specific swim styles of front crawl and back crawl; finally leading into the advanced progression of the breaststroke and butterfly techniques. Inclusive, if neither of these are what you are looking for, that is welcome instruction to communicate to our staff! We will adapt to what you have set your goals out to be for the aquatic lifestyle! You can see our program progression here!
At The Aqua Life Swim Academy, our philosophy is to focus on our swimmer’s needs, strengths and weaknesses. In our lessons there are no failing levels, but a natural continuation of skills and progressions. The focus is on building confident and safe swimmers who enjoy a life, long of swimming. We are looking to have you find the most practical and efficient use of your time, so that you may be able to enjoy the aquatic life with us. We know the joys and benefits that swimming bring in a lifetime. We are trying to share that with as many people as possible.
