This guest blog is written by one of our very own Aqua Life parents, Rebecca Stanisic. Thank you to Rebecca and her family for sharing their story.

Our kids – aged 7 and 9 – have been enrolled in swimming lessons for many years now. At first, we were in the pool with them, playing games and getting them used to the water. Then they were old enough to be in lessons without us. Eventually, I found that they could be in a class together, since they could swim at nearly the same level despite their difference in age.

I was happy that they were getting more comfortable in the water all while learning important safety skills. Still, it got to a point where they weren’t learning enough new skills. They continued to have fun (which was great!), but we wanted more for them. They showed the potential and interest to do more.

That’s why I was excited to learn about the Aqua Life Swim Academy! When an Orleans location opened, I knew I wanted to sign the kids up. I was able to get them into a semi-private class together and we’ve now been through a few different sessions. It’s clear that these lessons are PERFECT for them.

The instructors have always worked well with the kids to determine their levels of comfort and skill, what our goals were for the lessons, and what approach the kids responded to. I also really like that the instructors push the kids to work hard and try something new, even if they’re unsure at first. My kids have learned new swimming strokes and developed more skills than I could ever have imagined. They are real swimmers!

The benefit of classes with Aqua Life was made especially evident when we went on a family trip to Florida last March Break. We rented a house with a pool and the kids had so much confidence and skill that my parents made special mention of it. Everyone noticed how well they were doing! It was obvious that in just a few sessions they had greatly improved.

We signed our kids up at a young age for swim lessons because we believe it’s important for them to be safe in and around the water. What I didn’t expect was the boost in confidence and the sheer joy they experience when they swim! They love to try their new strokes, go under the water, jump in and swim around. To see them enjoy themselves to such a degree is so satisfying as a parent. Safety will always be the primary reason we began lessons, but the unexpected confidence that they developed is a welcome surprise. I know that their increased skill development is thanks to their lessons with the Aqua Life Swim Academy. And for that I am very grateful.
